Why engineers specify mica capacitors
A mica capacitor uses natural mica as its dielectric — a material with high dielectric strength, low losses and exceptional temperature stability. This is why mica capacitors have remained the standard for circuits where capacitance drift is not acceptable: resonant tanks, timing circuits, high-voltage filters and equipment operating at elevated temperature.
Unlike film and ceramic alternatives, the mica dielectric barely changes capacitance when heated and holds its parameters after long storage. That matters for equipment with a service life measured in decades, and for circuits specified over a wide temperature range.
CV series parts are axial leaded, with each lead longer than 25 mm, so they can be mounted on a PCB or in point-to-point wiring without adapters.
CV series technical parameters
- Operating temperature: −55 °C to +155 °C; up to +250 °C on special order
- Working voltage: 630 V – 20 kV (DC)
- Nominal capacitance: 100 pF – 2.2 µF
- Capacitance tolerance: ±5 %; ±10 %
- Dissipation factor tan δ: CR ≤ 1.5 nF — ≤ 70×10⁻⁴; CR > 1.5 nF — ≤ 50×10⁻⁴ (1 kHz)
- Insulation resistance: CR ≤ 0.22 µF — ≥ 25,000 MΩ; CR > 0.22 µF — ≥ 5,000 MΩ·µF
- Test voltage: 1.6 × rated voltage for 1 min — no breakdown or flashover
- Leads: axial, each lead longer than 25 mm

Where the CV series is used
- Downhole measurement instruments (logging, MWD/LWD) and their power supplies
- High-voltage filters and DC blocking in industrial power supplies
- Resonant and timing circuits that must hold capacitance over temperature
- Snubber and protection circuits for high-voltage switching
- Replacement of obsolete Soviet-era part numbers (KSO, SGM, KVI) and of imported Eurofarad (Exxelia) HT series
How to specify a part
Send the part number you are replacing, or the parameters you need — type, capacitance, working voltage, tolerance and operating temperature — together with the required quantity. We confirm the matching CV model, the dimensional drawing and the quotation within 2 working days.
Frequently asked questions
Does the CV series replace Eurofarad HT series without redesigning the board?
Yes. Rated voltage, capacitance range, dimensions and the axial leaded design match the replaced HT models, so no PCB redesign or mechanical change is needed.
What is the maximum operating temperature?
Standard parts are rated −55 °C to +155 °C. On special order, the CV series is produced up to +250 °C.
Do you supply custom capacitance and voltage values?
Yes. Custom designs and small batches are supported; send your parameters and quantity for an evaluation.
What is the lead time for CV series mica capacitors?
Standard items are produced in 4–8 weeks from order confirmation. Custom designs are scheduled individually.
Do you supply samples for qualification testing?
Yes. Qualification samples are available on request; terms and cost are confirmed when the request is placed.
In which language is the technical documentation issued?
Type tables, the technical specification for the part number and dimensional drawings are issued in English, and in Russian where required.
