What a replacement actually involves
Replacing a capacitor in an existing design is not a like-for-like purchase — it is a small engineering task. Three things have to line up: the electrical rating (voltage, capacitance, tolerance, temperature), the mechanical envelope (case size and lead pitch), and the qualification status of the equipment.
We approach it in that order. Send the part number you are replacing and, where you have them, the original datasheet and the dimensional constraints. We identify the corresponding model, issue the drawing for confirmation, and only then quote — with samples available before a series order.
Brands and series we cross-reference
- Eurofarad (now Exxelia) HT series — HT76, HT78, HT86, HT97: see the Eurofarad HT replacement page.
- CDE (Cornell Dubilier) — 941C / 942C / 943C, 930 / 932 / 935 / 950 / 936C, and the DPP / DPPM / DPM series: see the CDE alternatives page.
- Soviet-era mica types — KSO (silver mica, moulded), SGM (hermetically sealed subminiature): see the KSO and SGM pages below.
- Soviet-era high-voltage ceramic types — KVI-1 / KVI-2 / KVI-3: see the KVI page below.
Why a second source is worth qualifying
Single-source high-temperature capacitors carry both availability and price risk: one factory, one allocation, one set of lead times. Qualifying a second source before you need it turns a supply interruption into a purchase order. Because the CV series is mechanically interchangeable with the HT series, the qualification work is limited to the electrical acceptance test rather than a redesign.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a cross-reference take?
Send the part number and the key parameters — we normally confirm the corresponding model within 2 working days, together with the quotation.
Will the replacement require a board redesign?
For the CV series against Eurofarad HT series, no: rated voltage, capacitance range, dimensions and axial leaded construction correspond. For other brands we confirm case dimensions and lead pitch against the original drawing first.
Do you provide qualification samples?
Yes. Samples for qualification testing are supplied on request before a series order.
Do you buy or process capacitors for precious metal recovery?
No. We manufacture and supply capacitors only; we do not buy used parts and do not carry out recovery or refining of silver, palladium or other precious metals.
