Choosing between the three families
- Energy storage and pulse discharge: CH2 / CH49 / C81 paper-film composite and all-film types in hermetically sealed metal cases, 2 – 50 kV pulse, 9 µF – 56,000 µF. Used in radar, pulse power and high-voltage protection circuits.
- Capacitance stability at high voltage: the CV series mica capacitors reach 20 kV DC with 100 pF – 2.2 µF and hold capacitance far more tightly over temperature than low-frequency ceramic dielectrics.
- Repetitive discharge duty: the laser energy-storage series (C411 · C517/C617 · C518/C522/C611) covers 0.63 – 3 kV and 45 – 105 J stored energy with a charge-discharge life of at least 2,000 – 2,500 cycles.
Why hermetic sealing matters
At high voltage, moisture ingress and partial discharge are what end a capacitor life. Hermetically sealed metal cases keep the impregnated dielectric dry and mechanically contained, which is why this construction is used for radar and pulse-power duty rather than open film types.
| Family | Voltage | Capacitance / energy | Duty |
|---|
| CH2 / CH49 / C81 | 2 – 50 kV (pulse) | 9 µF – 56,000 µF | Energy storage, radar, pulse power |
| CV series (mica) | 630 V – 20 kV DC | 100 pF – 2.2 µF | HV filters, blocking, resonant circuits |
| Laser storage series | 0.63 – 3 kV | 45 – 105 J stored | Repetitive discharge ≥ 2,000 cycles |
| JWF / JKMJ | 2.16 – 4.5 kV | 2.4 – 6.6 µF | SVC / HVDC grading and damping |
Frequently asked questions
What is the highest voltage you can supply?
50 kV pulse for the hermetically sealed energy-storage family, and 20 kV DC for the CV series mica capacitors.
Can a high-voltage mica capacitor replace a ceramic one in a pulse stage?
Often yes, and it usually improves stability: low-frequency ceramic dielectrics such as N70 lose up to 70 % of capacitance over temperature, while mica holds it.
Are partial discharge test data available?
Test reports for the delivered batch are available on request, together with the technical specification for the part number.
What is the lead time for CV series mica capacitors?
Standard items are produced in 4–8 weeks from order confirmation. Custom designs are scheduled individually.
