About the SGM family
SGM parts are sealed subminiature mica capacitors — a metal case with a glass or ceramic seal, built for circuits where humidity and contamination would otherwise degrade a moulded part. Because they were produced over a long period in several variants, published parameter tables vary between sources; we therefore work from the drawing and the electrical requirements of your specific position rather than from a generic table.
How we handle a substitution
Because the sealed case is also a mechanical interface, the substitution has to be checked in two steps: first the electrical match (voltage, capacitance, tolerance, temperature), then the envelope (case diameter, length and lead arrangement). Send the SGM variant and a drawing if you have one — we return the corresponding CV model with its dimensional drawing for confirmation before the order.
Where the CV replacement is a clear upgrade
- Temperature ceiling: the CV series is rated −55 °C to +155 °C, up to +250 °C on special order.
- Documentation: current technical specification, dimensional drawing and batch acceptance test data are available.
- Supply: an actively produced part rather than a stock position of unknown age.

Frequently asked questions
I do not have the SGM datasheet — can you still identify a replacement?
Yes. Send the marking on the part and the electrical requirements of the position (voltage, capacitance, tolerance, temperature) plus the available space, and we will propose the corresponding CV model with a drawing for confirmation.
Does the replacement keep the hermetic seal?
The CV series is not a hermetic metal-case construction. If full hermeticity is a requirement of the equipment, tell us at inquiry stage so the correct approach can be assessed before any substitution is proposed.
Do you buy used SGM capacitors for precious metal recovery?
No. We manufacture and supply capacitors only; we do not purchase used parts and do not carry out recovery or refining.
